Project
Cabbala of Jaspers / Moliere
Category
Best Implemented Theatre Set Design
About the project
The play showcases a metaphorically architectural spatial solution. The artist divided the stage with diagonal stairs going up and down, thus integrating several worlds involved into the performance there. The lower tier, which represents the backstage of the Theater du Palais-Royal, is abundant with vintage items.
The next tier represents the gloomy and mysterious Cabbala, which at a certain point gives place to the Royal ramp — sterile white world of Louis on the red-flowering carpet.
The artist uses the decorations to tell the viewers about two worlds — the kind and humane world of theater, and the sordid world that is willing to torture and crucify the unwanted.
