Pavilion No. 518 “Cafe ‘Leto’”, VDNKh

Object of cultural heritage of federal significance Pavilion No. 518 “Café ‘Leto’” was built in 1954. It is one of four buildings at VDNKh whose pediments are decorated with carved wooden images.
A distinctive feature of the two-storey café in the classical Russian style is the open veranda and the side galleries of the upper tier, which give its appearance lightness and airiness.
In the course of the restoration works, specialists reinforced the load-bearing structures, recreated the tiled roof, and restored the wooden, stucco, and plaster décor of the façades. Metlakh tiles have been laid on the balcony. The original appearance of the floor of the ground floor, the veranda, the gallery, and the main staircase has also been restored.
Visitors can once again see the carved wooden panel on the central pediment, reminiscent of a large festive table surrounded by fruit trees, the elegant painting on the wooden ceiling of the open terraces, as well as the monumental painting on the main façade wall of the open veranda — flowers on a yellow-red field and the ornate ornament of the columns.
