About the project
The production is a metanoir-style detective play.
Carbon is the main element that makes up all the organic matter, it essential to life on Earth, it contributes to death. All human actions and activities leave a footprint, and not just a carbon one – it might be emotional, socially significant or destructive. The characters “investigate” the internal and external consequences of usual and paradoxical human behavior.
The scene is divided into two zones. The first one is a «theatre zone», which is the main pavilion at the front of the stage, visible to the audience. It turns into a hotel room, a reception room, a parking lot. The «cinema zone» is located at the back of the stage behind the dividing backdrop. It includes four small pavilions (through rearranging the furniture and props, they are turned into a lecture hall, the police chief's office, a psychologist's office, a laboratory, an interrogation room, and a corridor). The performance is filmed on camera and broadcast online using a projector at the back of the main pavilion.
