About the project
The project deals with the full Refurbishment of a 16th century farmhouse located in Muruzábal de Andión, Navarra (Spain). In a captivating environment due to its great historical value gained by the ensemble it forms with the Romanesque hermitage and the Roman stela embedded in the façade. Therefore, the intervention pursues an architecture that speaks of its time and place, but ambitious by giving solutions and seeking timelessness. In the interior we are surprised by a triple-height space colonized by a huge, sober white volume suspended in space. The contrast is palpable, an envelope made up of four thick masonry stone walls marked by the passage of time, which coexists with a modern and ground-breaking geometry, recovering an abandoned environment and keeping alive the legacy of other generations.

Applicant and author of the project
Lourdes Martínez Nieto, senior architect from the polytechnic university of Madrid, with a master’s FHD degree from the Düsseldorf. Exercising the profession from the practice based in Madrid and currently collegiate in the COAM and in the ARB (England).
