Children's Library No. 4

Children's Library No. 4 is a modern, evolving platform tailored for children and teenagers. As part of the Krasnogvardeisky District Centralized Library System, it collaborates with other network institutions implementing creative, cultural, and educational projects, including the N. V. Gogol Library and the "SHKAF" Art Residence.

The design concept carefully considers the building's architectural context featuring 1950s Stalinist neoclassicism. The library is envisioned as a multifunctional environment where reading is complemented by hands-on creativity, including musical classes, workshops, and book restoration. The space pairs quiet zones situated near two-tier book depositories with active areas such as a lecture hall and circulation desks. This contemporary design engages in a dialogue with the historic architecture: the scale of the two-story shelving units echoes the building's monumentality, while bold color blocking and clean, minimalist forms ensure the space remains vibrant and relevant for a diverse, multi-age audience.
