Church of the Assumption, 1644

The Church of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos in Veshnyaki (1644–1646) is a votive church built by boyar F.I. Sheremetev, a federally protected landmark and a rare example of the fusion of tent-roofed and domed architecture. Over four centuries, it underwent Baroque alterations, the addition of galleries, and was closed in 1936.

The project's goal was to restore authenticity to the monument without rewriting its history. We provided scientific guidance and authorial supervision throughout the entire process — from on-site research and material selection to the acceptance of each stage. We conducted scientific and methodological councils and, based on their findings, adjusted the works directly during the restoration. The facades, including architectural decor and the entrance group, have been restored, while the interiors feature restored stucco decoration and monumental painting with the preservation of the original layers.

The result is a church once again readable as a unified whole, with a scientifically substantiated solution for every detail.
