In Senegal, the sun is the chief rival to comfort, while the wind offers the sole free source of air conditioning. Traditional buildings trap heat inside; our project proposes the exact opposite—rather than erecting walls, we create voids.
Instead of enclosed rooms, we design a network of shaded, ventilated corridors—interstitial gaps between volumes. These corridors are aligned with prevailing wind directions to capture the trade winds. Air enters from one side, cools in the shade, and flows through to the other, carrying away trapped heat from the rooms.
