The “Confrontation” Propylaea is a completed public landscape installation created on the “Galichskoye Zaozerye” eco-trail as part of the “Summer Wood-Evolution’25” festival.
Situated on the border between forest and field, the installation marks the entrance to the archipark while simultaneously functioning as a viewpoint, a resting spot, a navigation point, and a place for contemplation. Two facing wooden structures form a spatial dialogue, while built-in viewfinders direct the eye toward other installations within the archipark. Information plaques transform the route into a readable cultural landscape. The ornamentation of the propylaea is based on a traditional Galich window-frame motif—the “frog's foot” carving—reimagined as a contemporary decorative pattern. The project bridges local memory, the natural context, and an architectural gesture, turning an undeveloped trail into a place with character and its own unique identity.
