The interior design of the billiard club was resolved by us through an atmosphere of time-honoured traditions and the use of the “steampunk” or “parapunk” style, combining past and future — as if time had frozen in the Victorian era and the world had begun to develop in a different direction.
Steampunk (from the English words steam — “steam” and punk — “bad”) is a style in art characterised by the artistic depiction of a fictional society of people based on steam engines and mechanisms brought to perfection. In addition, steampunk is the best-known variety of the popular science-fiction genre of cyberpunk, as well as a literary movement, a cultural movement, and even a distinctive subculture. Distinctive features of the style in interiors are considered to be open mechanisms made of gears, pipes, screws, and hinges, from which various art objects (sculptures, panels, unusual pieces of furniture) are created.
