Revitalization of Daishan Village

The Daishan Village revitalization project restores lost connections between the renowned rammed earth architecture (Tulou, including Qiyun Tulou) and local ceramic traditions through a unified route—the “Rammed Earth Workshop.” Visitors begin at the historic Tulou, where they learn and practice the rammed earth technique by its walls, then descend into a ceramic workshop beneath a skylight with a view of the Tulou to mold and fire their work. Along the path, an exhibition and lecture hall share the history of the village and its crafts, while the route culminates in a garden showcasing ceramics and earthen sculptures created by participants. Finally, guests move to a former mushroom farm, reimagined as a meditative space overlooking the Tulou with a lemon grove at its entrance.
