About the project
The building site, which is an unused square, is located in the historical and geographical center of Kaliningrad. It is adjacent to the House of the Soviets and ruins of the Royal Castle, which are now under excavation. The square is surrounded by busy streets – Moskovsky and Leninsky Prospects and Shevchenko Street.
The main idea of the project entails minimal changes in the recognizable architecture of the House of the Soviets, one of the symbols of the city. However, the existing reinforced concrete facades are to be modified to make them look modern and austere. The project provides for their complete dismantling and installation of ventilated facades, as well as establishment of a two-level multifunctional space.
