Project Landscaping of Dzerzhinsky Square (Volgograd)
Category Best Landscape Architecture Project
About the project The project includes conversion of an existing parking lot into a public space. The building in front of it used to be the administration building of a former tractor plant. Today, it is a mixed-use complex with apartments and first-floor retail space. The project transforms the central entrance to the building into a colonnaded walkway designed to replicate a typical factory portico. There will be a summer cafe terrace with two external stairs on its roof. The square will be converted into two terraced spaces with benches to be used for social and cultural events.
Location Dzerzhinsky Square, Volgograd, Russia
Project design year 2020
Applicant and authors of the project Viktor Tikhonov, Pyotr Plotnikov, Roman Ivanov
