Project
Exhibitions within the space of historical carriages
Category
Best Implemented Project of Temporary or Permanent Museum Exposition
About the project (provided by the applicant)
A series of exhibition projects housed in historical railway carriages offers a new way to introduce visitors to the rich historical and cultural heritage of the Russian railways, while also expanding the exhibition space of the Museum of the Russian Railways. Between 2020 and 2024, a third-class carriage hosted exhibitions exploring the lives of Dostoevsky, Nekrasov, and Gorky in connections with railways. A freight car showcased an exhibition honoring General Khrulyov, while an early 20th-century baggage car hosted an exhibition dedicated to the lawyer A. F. Koni.
Such exhibitions exemplify a harmonious blend of traditional and contemporary technologies. The carriages are equipped with display cases for exhibits and archival documents, informational stands, and multimedia screens.
