About the project (provided by the applicant)
The school is designed on a local scale and is surrounded by residential apartments on three sides and a park on the other side. Considering the hot and dry climate of Mashhad city, I designed the entire project underground, inspired by the pit of Iranian gardens and houses of Kang village. In addition to creating a central courtyard and increasing the security of the school, I was able to create more green spaces. I designed the roof of the project as the level of the ground so that children can play in the park and also on the roof of the school.
One of the main problems with this idea was lighting. Considering the conditions, it was difficult for me to provide the right light for studying. The roof of the project follows a parametric pattern, some of which are used as skylights and some as photovoltaic panels, also all of the classrooms are faced to the courtyard so that the light shines directly into the classrooms.
