Project:
Gradient Barn

Category:
Best Art in Outdoor Public Space

About the project (provided by the applicant):
The Gradient Barn pavilion is seen as a remarkable facility that gradually vanishes into the thin air of the surrounding grounds. Trees, grass, and all kinds of natural items grow through it and become part of it. It represents a gradient — from a volume to an incorporeal structure.  The pedestrian tunnel helps focus on the nature, openness, and communication and makes a wow-effect when you leave it. The window glows in the dark like a guiding beacon.

This proposal is a visual representation of OCTET musical composition by Steve Reich.
