Project Architectural Lighting of A. I. Herzen Library
Best Implemented Architectural Lighting Project in Russia
About the project (provided by the applicant) The historic building is a living part of the city’s cultural heritage. The goal was to highlight its architectural grandeur without disturbing harmony or distorting the perception of the façade. Light accents are arranged delicately: gliding beams reveal texture, lines, and architectural elements, while the light sources are placed outside the building and remain invisible, so as not to distract from the architecture.
Integration was achieved using poles with lanterns of historic design, which harmonize with the era of the building and become part of the ensemble. Light appears to emanate from these lanterns, creating a natural perception. A special feature is a spotlight installed under tree branches: the interplay of light and shadow with moving leaves adds natural dynamics and enlivens the space. The lighting uses warm tones, embracing the building and creating an atmosphere of respect and comfort. This is not merely a technical solution but an artistic gesture—a subtle, careful “touch of light” honoring memory and culture.
