About the project (provided by the applicant)
The renovation project for the historical center of Kaliningrad focuses on restoring and enhancing the city’s unique architectural character. Its key objectives include reinstating the radial-orthogonal street layout, while adapting to the current urban development near the site. The project aims to repurpose cultural heritage sites for modern use, preserve green spaces, and establish a cohesive architectural style. The integration of street furniture, mid-rise buildings, and the removal of motor vehicles from the city center will enhance the pedestrian experience and overall comfort. The renovation introduces diverse functional zones, including commercial, residential, recreational, office, event, and educational areas. These strategic decisions and approaches aim to revitalize the center of Kaliningrad and ensure its long-term successful functioning.
