Project
Historic district in Yaroslavl — regeneration
Category
Best Project of Public Space by Student
About the project
The author studied the situation with Yaroslavl historical quarters and found out that they lack functionality and attractiveness, and are rather battered.
Her objective was to design a public space within the selected district that wouldn’t impair its historical significance and yet be attractive for locals and tourists. All the premises of the district were classified depending on people’s needs. At the living quarters, new playground facilities were designed. Then, there is a multifunctional public space that can be used both for leisure or for temporary exhibitions or performances in the open air. Here and there, you can find zones for passive rest, too.
