Rapid urbanization and globalization in recent decades have posed a serious challenge to Vietnam's major cities, altering the urban landscape and gradually eroding their historical identity. In this context, preserving and reinterpreting cultural heritage is essential for sustainable urban development.
Ho Chi Minh City is currently one of Southeast Asia's most dynamically developing metropolises. Rapid urban growth demands new ways to maintain the link between historical memory and the city's future development. The museum, within this context, is viewed not merely as a repository for artifacts, but as an open public space capable of narrating the city's history through architecture and exhibition design.
The project sets two main objectives: to create a cultural and educational facility tracing the city's journey from the past through the present to the future, and to establish a new architectural focal point along the Saigon River — a vibrant destination for residents and visitors alike.
