Project
House on the edge of a forest

Best Implemented Project of Private Residence
About the project (provided by the applicant)
A1 House, spanning 506 sq.m., is a technically sophisticated, eco-friendly home nestled on a slope above the Gulf of Finland. Surrounded by forest and integrated seamlessly into the untouched natural landscape, the house features terraces, relaxation zones, and a spa.
From the forest side, the building appears to be a single-story structure. However, there’s a lower level down the steep slope with breathtaking views of the water. During the construction, the hillside was reinforced with retaining walls. The architects were able to preserve the natural landscape, leaving the pine trees and wild blueberry bushes untouched.
The lower level of the building is constructed using reinforced concrete, while the upper level is made from CLT panels.
The wooden furniture was custom-made by the studio for this particular project. The wooden staircase is a technically intricate feature, with a wall on the lower floor that seamlessly transitions into the handrail. This transition is deliberately subtle, with the joint almost imperceptible to the touch.
