Project
Ceramic ornamentation of the Church of the Kazan icon of the Mother of God in Kemerovo
Nomination
Best Implemented Façade or Interior Project Using Ceramics
About the project
The church in Kemerovo features various kinds of architectural ceramics. The highlights of interior design are ceramic uprights, various inserts, including large-scale textured tiles, decoration of the socle with glazed pylons. Another eye-catching piece is the porcelain image of the Mother of God by Aurel Marinutsa, located above the entrance. The low-rise one-level Byzantine style iconostasis, the altar, the reading desk and wall shrines are made of chamotte clay and treated with special semi-matte glazing, making them look as if carved of white stone. White and blue tiles on the facades of the parochial house grant the complex a total look.
