“Immersion Point”: An Historic Tower—A New Environmental Scenario. The project offers a new reading of an historic water tower as an independent public and cultural site within the modern urban environment. Instead of an isolated monument, the tower becomes the spatial center of the area and a focal point of attraction for residents and visitors alike.
The core idea of the project is to connect the historical identity of the place with modern formats of interaction with the urban environment. A virtual reality space is organized within the existing tower, allowing the historic site to serve as a unique “immersion point” into the city's past and present.
The landscaping of the site is built around a system of pedestrian routes, public areas, and a water feature. The geometry of the new elements emphasizes the location of the historic tower, while simultaneously establishing new directions of movement and visual connections with the surrounding urban fabric.
