Project
Residential Development at Kiev Highway
Nomination
Best Student’s Architectural Project
About the project
The project’s distinctiveness comes from using various types of low-rise houses to create characteristic separate residential clusters, round and rectangular, each with its own shared inner space. Each cluster has access to a landscaped inner boulevard, which acts as a pedestrian axis of the development. The boulevard starts at the large trading square near the buildings of the shopping and multifunctional cultural centre and ends with a landscape featuring a pond and an island with the Pulkovka River entombed in a flume beneathit. Along the boulevard there are free standing kindergartens and schools, as well as shops&services on the ground floors. The facades feature elements of Petrine Baroque, which create large-scale divisions characteristic of the city’s historical centre.
