About the project (provided by the applicant)
In the heart of the city, the Kraken Residential Complex stands as a beacon of hope and support for women who have experienced hardship. With 27 carefully designed units, it offers a safe and nurturing space for women rebuilding their lives. The building's architecture, inspired by expressionism, features bold lines and dynamic shapes. At the center, a striking sculpture represents the strength and independence of the women living there.
Amidst the residential blocks, serene concrete gardens serve as peaceful retreats, with even the trees crafted from this durable material. These calming spaces act as sanctuaries for contemplation and renewal, fostering a deep connection between the residents and the natural world, while also reflecting a critical and expressionist aesthetic.
The design of this residential complex was developed after researching and consulting with women who have experienced trauma and other women to provide effective solutions for addressing their fears.
