Design Concept for the Revitalization and Museification of the Historic Fishing Village of Kuzomen

The project focuses on the revitalization and museification of the historic Pomor fishing village of Kuzomen on the Tersk Coast of the Murmansk Region. Its goal is to enhance the area's tourism appeal while preserving its unique natural and historical-cultural landscape, taking into account its anthropogenic vulnerability. To study the territory and develop design solutions, an expedition to Kuzomen was carried out under challenging climatic conditions.

The core of the concept is a tourist route connecting the village of Kuzomen with the historic tonya (fishing station) of Trukhinskaya. In Kuzomen, the plan proposes establishing a visitor center featuring an exhibition on Pomor fishing. Along the route, resting areas, navigation elements, and small architectural forms inspired by traditional Pomor culture will be implemented. The terminal point of the route is an open-air museum located at the fishing station site, featuring the sensitive restoration of existing structures and the creation of accommodation facilities for tourist, research, and volunteer groups.
