The Chaliapin Musical Theatre presents a new interpretation of La Traviata by Giuseppe Verdi on the stage of the Hermitage Theatre.
The main theme of the performance is the idea of withering, artificiality, and movement towards inevitable death. As showcased by scene designer Yulia Goltsova, the key role is in the combination of alarming blue with deathly black, the mourning black flowers, which will be placed at Violetta’s feet as if on a tombstone.
Violetta is dying spiritually and physically, like an exotic flower torn from its fertile bed.
