Project
Lenin's Komsomol K3 — 1st Soviet nuclear submarine
Category
Best Implemented Project of Temporary or Permanent Museum Exposition
About the project (provided by the applicant)
This nuclear submarine put a start to the Russian nuclear submarine fleet. K3 hasn’t been disposed thanks to the joint efforts of Fort Isle (Russian Navy) and the United Shipbuilding Corporation which aims to keep the submarine as a central exhibit in the Military Naval Glory Museum.
Exhibiting a piece this big in full size is unprecedented across the globe. In 2021, the submarine was transported from Snezhnogorsk (Murmansk Region) to Kronshtadt, restored and put on display in the Kronshtadt-based museum.
