About the project
The project is the winner of the public Waterfront competition for the best art object in St. Petersburg. It was exhibited at 5 x 5 x 5 in the Museum of Urban Sculpture.
There are so many sculptures of lions, griffins, and sphinxes in St. Petersburg, most of them guarding approaches to Neva, the main river of the city. However, some of the waterways that used to be at the outskirts of the city lack their guards, and the designer decided to place her lion griffins at the Chernaya River.
