Best Restoration or Reconstruction Project by Student
About the project (provided by the applicant)
Shennongbaicao Park, a historical herbal medical garden park that has a strategic place because surrounded by school, religious tourist destination (Xianse Temple), high density apartment and office commercial area in 400-meter radius. Unlike Xianse Temple, Shennongbaicao Park doesn't have any regular visitors and is less attractive to people. It can be concluded that Shennongbaicao Park is a lost space and need some reconstruction.
The strategic place and unique position create a demand for a park that can be used by a wide range of users (Children, Tourist, Elder, and Middle Age Worker). The urban centric position creates an urban vista of high buildings, high amount of noise (76.1 dB on average around the site), and lack of calm & private space to rest and interact for a while after stress activity, but also must be attractive for tourist and preserve the function as a place to present medical herb.
