Maryina Roscha Station, Moscow Metro
Category
Best Implemented Interior Design Project for Public Space
About the project (provided by the applicant)
The design concept of this metro station was selected during an international architectural competition. The result offers associations with interior designs typical for houses of the noble, as there are porcelain elements and glazed tiles. The floors are finished with wear-proof granite. The arched ceiling is made of the panels that are as seamless as possible, and the concealed lighting system makes it look infinite. Finishing materials contrast the cast-iron structure of the tunnel wall.
The two-level entrance hall is shaped as a parallelogram. Its aerial volume rests on the supports that are shaped as balls. The front part of the double facade is covered with light aluminum panels, and its back is finished with titanium-like dark panels. A stained-glass pane is installed between the balls in the ticket hall.
