Best Implemented Project for Adaptation of a Cultural Heritage Site
About the project (provided by the applicant) Adaptation works for modern use were carried out not only in the mosque building itself but also in the complex of structures added to the heritage site in later periods. The basement of the mosque was adapted into an interactive museum space dedicated to the history of the mosque. The administrative buildings of the mosque now house a women’s prayer hall, classrooms, banquet and nikah halls, as well as a conference hall.

Applicant State Budgetary Institution “Center for Cultural Heritage of Tatarstan”
The core activity of the Center is the comprehensive study and preservation of cultural heritage sites. Its specialists take part in surveys of cultural heritage sites, conduct research, design and restoration works, including historical and architectural, historical and urban planning, memorial and archaeological studies, as well as prepare technical condition reports for cultural heritage sites.
