The “Matti Factory” revitalization project is built on respect for the historical context of Vyborg and a dialogue between past and future, transforming an abandoned area into a new public space. Architectural solutions are based on a deep, comprehensive analysis of the site and a reinterpretation of its history. Externally, the architecture remains restrained, preserving the city’s silhouette and the panorama of the Panzerlax bastion. Inside the block, modern landscaping, interiors, and facade solutions appear. A light metal arch serves as an accent without drawing undue attention. It transforms into a telescopic portal and smoothly transitions into ribbed structures of an open terrace, which connects the buildings into a single architectural complex. Its lines, inspired by early 20th-century furniture design, emphasize the spirit of the place. In the inner courtyard, paving incorporates a map of old Vyborg, turning the space into a living memory of the city. The plasticity of forms reinterprets history through time while simultaneously shaping the future.
