About the project
On July 12, 2023, on the St. Peter and Paul’s Day and the 777th Birthday of Tarusa, this city became a site where a memorial sign for Peter Nikitin, an outstanding Russian architect from the 18th century, was opened. In particular, he designed regular layouts for Kaluga and Tarusa.
The memorial sign was located at the St. Peter and Paul Cathedral, which originally was the focal point and the pivot of the regular layout. It is designed as a piece of a classical column, with an oval stone slab put atop and featuring a regular plan. Unfortunately, no pictures of the architect lived till nowadays. That’s why the layout of Tarusa showcased became an allegoric portrait of him.
