Project
Memorial Center of WWI
Nomination
Best Architectural Design for a Museum
About the project
The design site is spread at the top of the Vakhtennaya Mountain, making the museum resemble an untakable beacon fortress. Integrated into the network of old tunnels and caves, dug up by the Prussians and used by the Nazi during WWI, the scattered premises of the museum present various exhibit items against the natural background. Water grooves cross every level of the main building and meeting in the end, they thunderously fall into the sea. Most of the exhibits are complimented with interactive VR and AR technologies to show war not just like some old story, but to let visitors feel its spirit and get a unique experience.
