Project
New Midborg Town Centre

Nomination
Best Project of Public Space by a Student

About the project
Situated on Reykjavik's disused domestic airport, a district of Reykjavik ready for redevelopment, the New Midborg Town Centre looks at identifying a new way of designing town squares that integrates culture, history, transport, and industry together. Starting from tabula rasa a masterplan for the district was developed with key information from the Reykjavik town planners. The town centre was then designed at the intersection of the central park, commercial centre and rail hub. The design is focused on the integration of all aspects of Icelandic life in one public space.
