Although the exhibition is numismatic, it is also timed to coincide with the 135th anniversary of M. A. Bulgakov.
The exposition illustrates the history of currency within the context of the settings in the novel The Master and Margarita. It features monetary artifacts from ancient Judea in the 30s AD and Soviet Moscow of the 1920s–1930s. The exhibition is designed to allow visitors to easily immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the novel. Display elements are seamlessly integrated into the interiors of historical halls, creating a sense of authenticity surrounding the moment.
The first hall represents ancient Judea, a province of the Roman Empire. Exhibited here are coins that could have been used by the novel's characters—Pontius Pilate, Matthew Levi, and others. The central focus of this area is a display case containing the "thirty pieces of silver."
The second hall focuses on Moscow during the 1920s and 1930s. It presents the history of the chervonets, as well as other banknotes and coins that accompanied everyday communal life. The "Writer's Room" serves as a distinct conceptual center piece.
The third hall represents Torgsin. An AI cashier truly brings the setting to life.
