It is difficult for elderly people to change their habitual way of life. Traditions and everyday habits are firmly woven into the daily routine, and in this case a special approach is required that will allow people to open up and find new connections with the surrounding world. The project of a social day-care centre is developed as a synthesis of the old and the new, using centuries-old traditions in a contemporary context.

The building is executed in the form of an imposing barn; the use of natural materials and forms allows it to be integrated into the surrounding environment. The object consists of two blocks and an arched vault. The main façade is located on the south side and has a solid wall section that protects from the sun. Thanks to insertions of glass blocks the monochrome façade acquires an extraordinary appearance of connection from the inside outward. The entrance arch acts as a visual axis and a framing of the existing historic Capalbio Castle.
