About the project
The Church of the Descent of the Holy Spirit is located in the Zaraisky district of the Moscow Region, on the Uyna River, 11 km southwest of the city of Zaraysk. Its cultural significance is due to the fact that Fyodor Dostoevsky’s father was buried in the cemetery at the church in 1839. By the end of the twentieth century, the church was in a state of disrepair. It underwent renovation from 2019 to 2023.
Thanks to the restoration, the church regained the appearance it had at the end of the 19th century. The project included uncovering some original decorative details of the facades, as well as the conservation of frescoes inside and the reconstruction of lost and damaged elements.
