About the project (provided by the applicant)
According to the project, the Likhobory locomotive depot, part of Moscow's industrial architectural heritage, will be transformed into a cultural and educational complex. The adaptation concept includes an interactive museum dedicated to historical diesel locomotives, a public space featuring a lecture hall and an exhibition space, and the renovation of the Russian Railways college for 200 students.
A pedestrian bridge links Koptevo station to the new Mikhalkovsky residential complex, leading to the museum’s entrance. This bridge offers scenic views of the surrounding park, a train exhibition, the turning circle, and the historic Mikhalkovo estate.
The museum park is made up of two circles. One of them is the turning circle with the old depot standing along, which will host interactive exhibitions. The other circle is divided into sectors, with an outdoor stage positioned at its center. Thus, the project not only preserves the historical and cultural essence of the depot but also establishes a modern and engaging destination for visitors.
