About the project This cultural heritage site within the Museum Reserve, located close to the border with Georgia, was restored in the end of 2022. Different parts of Niy were constructed in different time at the altitude of 3,000+ meters above the sea level, in the mountains. The residential towers date back to the 11th century, whereas the shooting ones were finalized in the late 14th century, which makes them the oldest structures built in Russia. After Ingushes were deported in 1943 the tower complexes were abandoned.
