Project Cultural and Leisure Complex on the Okhta Embankment
Best Project of Building or Facility by Student
About the project (provided by the applicant) The cultural and leisure complex is being developed as part of a master plan for a city block on the Okhta River embankment.
The form-generating principle is based on the main compositional axes within the site structure: Irinovsky Avenue, a pedestrian boulevard, and the Okhta embankment. Additionally, the form was influenced by the preservation of an early 20th-century industrial building, which plays a key role in shaping the historical identity of the area.
The proposed structure cantilevers over the brick building, reflecting architectural layering and establishing a dialogue with the site's historical legacy. The triangular floor plan is divided into two parts, creating two functional blocks and forming a pedestrian alley aligned with a prominent chimney. This element acts as a focal point in the alley’s composition and draws the attention of passersby along Irinovsky Avenue near the cultural center.
Location 1AD Irinovsky Avenue, St. Petersburg, Russia
