Project “Glavbassein”: Reconstruction of the “Glavpivo” Pavilion with Adaptation for a Grand Swimming Pool at VDNH
Best Restoration or Reconstruction Project by Student
About the project (provided by the applicant) The historically lost “Glavpivo” Pavilion was once the main leisure and social hub for visitors of VDNH. The proposed placement of a spa complex within its reconstructed structure continues the recreational function of the site while ensuring a sensitive integration into the natural landscape. The open year-round swimming pool becomes a key attraction operating on the scale of the entire exhibition grounds, providing a striking completion to the main compositional axis of VDNH.
The functional zoning concept proposes using the basement level for the main volume of the pool complex. From the shared recreation area with the indoor pool, visitors can transition to the large outdoor pool zone. The first floor recreates the historical hall, adapted to house a café, a block of auxiliary rooms, and a rentable VIP lounge.
