Project
Business Terminal at Platov Airport

Nomination
Best Project of Public Building or Facility

About the project
The new airport of Rostov-on-Don was built on a site with rich history and multiple archaeological findings: they discovered a burial mound with the Sarmatian gold there, and colonies of Ancient Greeks used to be there in the 2nd century.
Using the image of an iconic installation, the authors designed a colonnade of white concrete with a class volume within. Uneven rhythm of the columns makes the construction look somehow unfinished. A central court makes internal and external spaces flow in one another and back again. Internal piers of amber Murano glass make the interior tainted with gold, when filled with light.
