About the project (provided by the applicant)
The Eagle Pavilion is the centerpiece of the Long Island in the Palace Park, one of the visual highlights. It was built in the late 18th century by Vincenzo Brenna, but during the war it was partially destroyed. Large-scale restoration works were commenced in 2022 and completed in 2024.
The stone facades were cleaned and treated with biocidic agents, lost tufa was replaced, and decorative protective elements were added. Marble columns were cleaned and restored as needed. The crowned eagle that used to stand on the entablement was knocked down and split into several pieces during the war. Now it has been restored with due regard to the surviving elements, drawings, and old photos.
