Project
Beautification project for Pisa
Category
Best Project of Public Space by Student
About the project
The designed site is closed to vehicular traffic, and the vehicle bridge will be replaced with a pedestrian one. Plus there will be sight seeing platforms, an amphitheater, a pier, and stairs leading up the fortress wall.
The six meters wide bridge is designed with a concrete foundation and metal structures that look quite lightweight and don’t interfere with the existing development. A temporary pavilion is designed in the old canal-lock. Its roof can be used as a stage, and the building itself as a summer coffee shop or a storage place. From the fortress wall that will be accessible by the disabled, too, great views of the Arno River and the city of Pisa open.
