Project
Hotel in Uzbekistan
Nomination
Best Project of Public Building or Facility
About the project
The hotel stands on the way from the airport to President’s palace. The authors had to make it a carte de visite of the city.
The central glass entrance features a typical medrese portal with arabesque ornaments. Other architectural details typical for Islamic architecture are muqarnas – honeycombed dome with hexagonal ornament. The portal is adorned with travertine grapevines, referring to the country’s winemaking tradition. The façade is also clad with travertine, its color similar to sands of the surrounding deserts. Eclectic fusion of styles from various epochs, Central Asian and Franche architecture complimented with luxurious state-of-the-art materials make the building unique.
