Project:
Qualification work — Porokhovye District in St. Petersburg

Category:
Best Project of Public Space by Student

About the project (provided by the applicant):
The authors believe that the design site is a great place to build a comfortable and distinctive residential development where the industrial past and splendid nature will be perfectly complemented by contemporary architecture.
Their proposal is a development with a boulevard that will replace an old railway. As there used to be a gunpowder plant in the site, which is all about sulfur, saltpeter, and aluminum powder, the author integrated these three elements in her design. The trade center in the east represents sulfur, the school and the sports recreation complex in the center is saltpeter, and the theater and entertainment facility — aluminum powder.
