About the project (provided by the applicant)
The site is located within the Moskovsky District of Kaliningrad, bordered on three sides by the Pregolya River. After 1945, most of the historical buildings in the district were lost and replaced with typical Soviet-era houses. The primary goal of the project was to develop a renovation concept for the historic Lomse district of Kaliningrad. It involves restoring the original street layout and organizing new buildings in line with the historical survey.
Through landscape and visual analysis, the buildings in the district are divided into three groups: streetfront structures, which shape the district’s streetscape; «secondary» reconstructed buildings, positioned further from the center; and «tertiary» buildings, which define the internal space within the district. The new districts, combined with reconstructed buildings, create a refreshed image of Kaliningrad, while preserving the atmosphere and urban fabric of the old city of Königsberg.
