Category Best Implemented Restoration / Reconstruction Project
About the project This memorial was originally created on the order of Alexander II, Nicholas I’s son.
It took almost 2 years to explore the memorial and design a renovation project.
The authors had to do something about moistening of the pedestal caused by the cracked plinth, as well as about the white Carrara marble decaying and unwanted patina.
Bass-reliefs telling about the key events during Nicholas I’s reign were restored in the workshops, but the statue itself was renovated right on the pedestal.
