Project Restoration of Pogankin Chambers (17th century)
Category Best Implemented Restoration / Reconstruction Project
Abouttheproject The renovation of this listed facility is based on the thorough research study performed. The designers wanted to keep as much original as possible and restore this memorial’s layout. The building was upgraded with engineering utilities, and thanks to the smart technological solutions it can now be used as the museum and exhibition center.
Contemporary elements installed after the War were disassembled as they defaced the building. The original pieces were carefully restored and reinforced, including intramural stairs, frescos, and plastering. Some of the ruined elements were restored in compliance with the similar ones – window and door assemblies, window shutters, roof tiling, oak brick floors, and stoves).
